Our Goals

To provide a nurturing environment where self-concepts are enhanced, independence encouraged, social skills acquired and individuality respected. To provide children with opportunities to gain competence in a variety of skills such as; art, science, music, movement, and language arts, through hands – on experiences. To provide an atmosphere that promotes safe, kind and clean environment for each other. To develop in the child, an active curiosity about the world in which they live and an enthusiasm for learning.

About Us

‘It takes a whole village to raise a child! All of us at Peter Pan Schools are part of our community’s extended family of caregivers and educators. Quality caregiving is essential in nourishing a child’s mind and spirit; therefore, from infants to Pre-Kindergarten, we strive to provide positive and loving experiences for all of “our” children.

All of us here are part of our community’s extended family of caregivers and educators. Quality care giving is essential in nourishing a child’s mind and spirit; therefore, from infants to Pre-Kindergarten, we strive to provide positive and loving experiences for all of “our” children. Each time we welcome a child into our schools, we are entrusted with the most precious responsibility of all. That responsibility is to teach through example, to re-direct with love, and to promote respect for all people.

Program Philosophy

Our program is based on the philosophy where that by accepting children as they are, placing them in a warm and loving environment, we will be able to encourage the children to attain their full potential. Each child is treated and respected as a unique individual.

It is our belief that each child’s development should be an even and well balanced progression that allows success socially, emotionally, physically, cognitively, and creatively. It is the process not the product that is most important. Learning and development occur within a process and are not sought directly as a goal, but as a journey of discovery. Play is one of the most important tools to assess a child’s development. We believe that play builds brains. Through play we can observe a child’s social, emotional, cognitive, creative, and physical selves and truly see them develop into the best versions of themselves. Children learn best through hands-on, interactive experiences, therefore our curriculum is based on child interests and our classrooms are set up to promote exploration. We strive for each child’s preschool experience to be filled with love, respect, friends, play, praise, confidence, imagination, acknowledgment, play-dough, dancing, tricycles, singing, blocks, hugs, stories, exploration, creativity, fun, independence, laughter, painting, science, cooking, puppets and games, is the foundation for early childhood.

Our Curriculum

In our daily program you will find a balance of child directed and teacher directed activities, long periods of uninterrupted playtime, (Free Play), and lots of hands-on activities. Our center is play-based; therefore we use developmentally age appropriate concepts and themes as the basis of our curriculum. We believe that play is the best way in which children learn new skills and process concepts. We provide daily lessons in language arts, science, art, music/movement, math, dramatic play, sensory, and perceptual motor skills. We provide monthly newsletters and weekly lesson plans to keep you updated and informed of all our activities and events.

Teaching requires great love, wisdom, and patience. It takes time to discover the best in each child, and then to draw it out. Our goal is to build a relationship with each child through interactions and play. After all play is a child’s work.

Unstructured, child-centered play has enormous benefits for young children, and those benefits are limitless. A child’s capacity to be creative thinkers and innovative problem solvers comes from using their own mental processing to explore the world. Play based learning provides’ a context for learning through which children organize and make sense of their social worlds, as they engage actively with people, objects and representations.Playful learning sharpens physical skills, hones language skills, deepens cognitive skills, polishes social skills, and changes the brain’s neural pathways.

Children are biologically wired to learn from their experiences. Every child is different; each has a unique set of abilities created for a special purpose. Granted, children ought to be stretched and intellectually stimulated. We are here to also teach them to articulate their feelings, to write, to develop and defend and idea, to think critically, and more importantly be the best versions of themselves. Part of childhood is about problem solving, working out strategies and solutions to everyday life issues. They learn by association and hands-on action.

It is vital that we allow children to be children for as long as possible. They need play. These years do not come back, therefore here at Little Seeds and Peter Pan our imaginations run wild, we build castles, we get messy, we laugh & cry, we explore, we paint, we love, we have fun, and above all we PLAY.

“Play is the highest expression of human development in childhood, for it alone is the free expression of what is in a child’s soul.”

Friedrich Froebel

A “Child Evaluation” will be given to parents periodically to show your child’s growth and development. Parent/teacher conferences will be held on an optional basis.

Our Facilities

Our beautifully designed facility was created for your children with low sinks, junior toilets, and beautiful outdoor areas for crawling, rolling, running, and jumping. Our play structures and toys have been carefully selected for your child’s developmental levels and meet California State Licensing requirements.

At Peter Pan Schools we are aware that children have a need to explore and discover their environment. The program will provide activities and materials that will enable the child to experience a wide range of developmental areas. Each day the children are exposed to nurturing learning centers which will stimulate the growing, creative and inquiring mind and sponge-like brain.
